About Sally Painter
Biography
Growing up on a farm, Sally Painter has always been surrounded by the beauty of the natural world and the culture of the west. So it’s really not surprising that she has two strong influences in her artwork: nature and cowboys. Fascinating shapes, delicate textures, and vibrant colors of flowers and other plants and trees are reflected in her botanical work. Unique and colorful images of the rugged west are evident in her Western paintings.
Yet, Sally says, she strives to paint something more than simply a realistic depiction of these subjects. She notes, “I interpret the subject with brush in hand, allowing my imagination to select colors and forms.” Sally invites us to enter in to her subjects, to experience them, to have a visceral reaction to them.
In recent years, she has been profiled in American Art Collector, ARTisSpectrum, and Artist Showcase, and Southwest Art's September 2015 edition named her one of their Nationally Emerging Artists. Sally has participated in a number of significant art competitions, including National Oil and Acrylic Painters 2017 Juried Fall Showcase, Spring 2017 Exhibition at Sturt Hagga Gallery (Descanso Gardens), Oil Painters of America 2016 Juried Salon Show, the 26th Annual All Florida Juried Arts Show (2016), the Art at the Mill Group Exhibition (2016), the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society Spring Online Exhibition (2016), the 26th Annual Best of America Fine Art Exhibition (2016), the SCAPES 2016 Exhibit, the Art of the Heartland Juried Exhibit (2015), the 24th Annual All Florida Juried Arts Show (2014), and the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum 2014 Spirit Art Show. She was also the featured artist at the Palm Beach International Airport in 2011.
