About Rudolf Kosow

  • Biography

Rudolf Kosow is an experienced German painter who has exhibited his work worlwide. He deals with three main themes: human, animal and landscape, and he is particularly interested in combining these components to create a special, unique atmosphere and aesthetic. Realistic figures meet in compositions in strange and surrealistic ways, allowing each viewer to interpret the ambiguity of each painting. His overall aesthetic is full of intrigue and magic.

Born in 1972 in Karaganda (Kazakhstan), he studied between 1994 and 2001 free painting and art education at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart under Prof. M. Baumgartl and Prof. P. Chevalier.

Has been working as an art teacher since 2005.

„The focus of my painting is the realistic depiction of things, albeit in a surrealistic context. My aim is to depict things in a uniform, spatially realistic context, except that the collision of things in real life would be impossible or at least very unlikely. A certain irony accompanies my works, which often makes the viewer smile“

« What motivates me most when painting is the thought that I am creating a "new life" in the form of a painting that touches other people emotionally and has an impact on them »
