About Rosa Boomsma

  • Biography

For as long as I can remember, I have been aware of the transient nature of things, the impermanence of moments, objects, and even our own existence. This awareness is at the core of my work. It is driven by a form of melancholy, an unfulfilled longing, but also by a deep consciousness of time. The brevity of life, yet also its infinity - how everything continues long after we are gone. This perspective imbues my paintings with narrative depth, each piece capturing a singular moment in the vast story of existence.

In my paintings, I strive to encapsulate scenes from the shared human experience, distilling life into a single frame. I invite the viewer to step closer, to linger, and to uncover the layers beneath the surface - where memory, time, and emotion quietly intertwine.
