About Ricardo Maldonado

  • Biography

As a child, I always enjoyed drawing and painting. Then, over time, many other activities and obligations took over my time and dedication. But fortunately the last few years brought back the joy, the passion and the appreciation for art.

I enjoy painting and experimenting with color, especially in natural environments . My preferred subjects are related to nature and the outdoors, where the light and the colors change often with the seasons and the time of the day. Those changes, subtle or abrupt, are always a challenge to the artist.

To me, painting is a search and a discipline. Painting has taught me to see things in a different way, observing every detail more carefully and more consciously, distinguishing colors and shapes, and ultimately appreciating more deeply what I see.

I have shown my paintings in many collective and solo shows around Massachusetts since 1995. Many of my pieces - or reproductions of them - are in collections all over the US. I am a member of the Cambridge and Concord Art Associations.

Event: Brookline Arts Center. Brookline MA

    Dates: 8 Nov 2019 - 20 Dec 2019

Venue: Brookline Arts Center, 86 Monmouth Street, Brookline, MA

    BAC Curated Exhibition
    November 8-December 20, 2019
    Reception: Friday, November 8, 6:00-8:00pm

Nature has played an important role in the creation of art going all the way back to prehistory. Humans have taken their fear, awe and excitement over the natural world and turned it into representations that clarify our place within it and apart from it.

The Brookline Arts Center is pleased to present Collective Ecologies, a group exhibition in which the natural world is scrutinized through unique perspectives that reveal its depth and the diversity of ways in which humans observe and revere it.
