About Derek Redican
Biography
Born in Dublin in 1962. Derek is a part-time Artist experimenting with a range of styles and techniques. He studied Visual Communications at DIT in Dublin before moving to London to work as a Visualiser and Illustrator for a highly regarded design house. Derek then moved on to become a professional Airbrush Illustrator in Leicester before entering the advertising world as an Art Director. He has travelled and worked extensively around the globe at ad agencies in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore.
Intrigued by the suggestion of a story in a picture, Derek paints with an emphasis on faces and the unknown secrets they imply. He is drawn to and influenced by, the awe inspiring craftsmanship of old masters like Vermeer and Carravagio.
