About Rachel Williams

I studied printmaking in New Zealand and although I now work across other media it has remained central to my work. Most works have some element of "transference" or mark making which is made by printing. I work on paper and canvas using generally at a large-ish size. Recently I have embarked on a new format and am making wall hangings which involve printed elements as well as appliqué and stitching. My work over the years has evolved from figurative to abstract and back to figurative. Themes include works about history, place, politics and the environment. I feel compelled to make art. It is not a choice for me it is my whole life. I exhibit widely with galleries and artist led shows mainly on the south coast of the UK where I now have my studio.
