About Prashant Prabhu

  • Biography
I have been concentrating on watercolours and with emphasis on landscapes/ citiscapes for more than 2 decades. Minimalist by choice, I not only avoid detailed pretty pictures, but also look for bringing thought and contemporary treatment in landscape which for me is more of a 'composition'. My dislike for traditional insistence on 'plein air' landscape and liberal use of my photography for reference, takes my landscape more towards imagination and fantasy. Most of my solo shows numbering 20, were in watercolour and have been fortunate to have my artworks getting into collection of National gallery of Modern art, Mumbai, Indian oil corp and many Indian corporate behemoths like RPG, MERICO, VIP industries, ICICI Bank etc. I paint and will continue to paint treating landscape as a 'composition' in minimalist way, eschewing a signature style!
