    Edge of The Black Mountains

On rare occasions in the early mornings of November and December the low sun highlights the magnificent colour of the edge of the Black Mountains. This part is in England although the Welsh border is just on the top and later descends to envelop the whole slope. It is very close to my home and where I work and in constant view. There is a very strong sense of place in this part of Herefordshire where the border with Wales is blurred. The natural world exerts a very strong influence and it is the felt experience that inspires my work.

    The Skirrid Mountain

The Skirrid Mountain has been in my eyeline for almost 50 years, from two locations. Somewhat closer now, but certainly in Wales, it has a very distinctive shape.

    Black Hill

A famous Herefordshire landmark, only just in England. Visible from my workshop, it constantly changes according to the light and the season.
