About Peter Stahr

  • Biography
After studying art in Braunschweig, Peter Stahr worked in the fields of painting, media art, web design and as a teacher with various exhibitions in Germany. Since 2021, he has worked exclusively as a freelance artist with a studio in Göttingen.
Stahr paints abstract landscapes from his feelings and memories. He lived by the sea for many years and ran various windsurfing schools in the Mediterranean in his youth. Hence his preference for abstract seascapes.
In his “Magic Landscapes” series of paintings, the viewer is invited on inner journeys of discovery that take him to personal (longing) places that awaken feelings and memories. His abstract landscapes often move between figuration and abstraction. In the “New Paths” series of paintings, he also expresses his own fears about the present and the future. These paintings can be thought-provoking and evoke various associations on an emotional level.
He likes to work in large picture formats with acrylic or acrylic mixed media on canvas. In his works, he mixes acrylic with various pigments, dispersions, pastes, earths and other materials. In addition to form and color, the material is added as a carrier medium. This results in multi-layered, detailed works with great depth.
