About Peter Clarke

I have been working on my "Fresco" series of paintings and prints on and off for the passed fifteen years, I started these pictures when I had a gallery and studio in the south of france. Around the highways and bye-ways of France there survives many images of old publicity that was painted directly onto walls and buildings, many of messages have all but disappeared and the colours faded leaving almost abstract images. I have built up an archive of photographs which I use as source material for my work. Apart from this on-going series I continue to work on other subjects

mostly of a contemporary and figurative nature.
