For an artist, it is never easy to define anything: especially when asked: “Who are you?” Because isn’t that the journey we all are in right now? Is it not an unending quest, from our birth to our death?

I am an artist. I paint. That could be a very short definition of who I am.

I was born and raised in Kolkata, India. And I give the historic and vibrant city a lot of credit for who I am today. The art and creativity around me encouraged me to hold a crayon and paint even before I started talking. Needless to say, my first white canvas was the wall of our living room! ☺

For me, art is a medium to communicate my feelings and thoughts about things I need to say.

Through my paintings, I want to bring out uncountable stories of people who are always behind the scenes. The social economic and political agendas that stir their lives feature prominently in my art. I like to express my thoughts through symbolism and abstract surrealism.

I love to perceive how shapes and colors appear in the mundane. I am fascinated by the anatomy of the human body: an example of Nature’s brilliant artwork. I study them through still life or figurative paintings.

I am inspired by the works of legends such as Dali, Van Gogh, Picasso, Frida Kahlo, Gustav Klimt, and Rembrandt to name a few.  

My training and accolades:

I am a trained graphic designer with corporate experience in illustrations and digital art.

My illustration work has been showcased in some leading Bengali magazines like Anandamela and Adwitiya.
