About Orlando Marin-Lopez

  • Biography
My name is Orlando, I come from Paris and I've been living in Barcelona for 7 years or so. I started drawing a little more than ten years ago after finishing college, shortly after I started writing. Over time it seems that my love of drawing has overcome writing. I see the drawing first as a way to draw lines, just like writing. Draw lines to create meaning on paper. To create a graphic or linguistic sign. In fact I like to write in the same drawings. What I like is the detail, and the sensitivity that is why I have a love of paper for its insurmountable subtlety. My subjects are often images of everyday life, portraits of people on the street, in public places. Since I was young I have fallen in love with Japan and naturally it has become a central theme of my stories and my drawing. I do not tire of its mysterious soft and sensual aesthetic. I see a parallel between the country of the signs where every detail has a meaning and the drawing that is for me an obsession to trace detail after detail. I have started drawing professionally a few years ago and I am now seeking for new ways to sell my art.
