About Olya Shevel

  • Biography

This true story is a lot like a fairy tale! Yes it is really a miracle! I learnt how to paint in a series of dreams: After the death of her parents Olya experienced emotional distress and received the gift of dreams as a means to receive information. In the dreams, she took a whole course of art painting: composition, perspective, aerial perspective, color, light and shade, texture ...After only seven months she held her first exhibition in Sydney.

“Who told you that one paints with colors? One makes use of colors, but one paints with emotions.”
    J.B.Chardin

Olga Shevelova is a Ukrainian born artist who came to art after a family trauma. Her work is highly intuitive and is influenced by dreams. Olga’s practice is informed by Eastern philosophy which is applied to the Australian landscape of her new home. This exhibition presents 19 of Olga’s most recent work.

    In her own words:

“My dynamic palette is created as a bond of two energies – that of the living nature, and my own. I express my feelings through the colour array, when I quickly mix colours together and then add wood, sand, rocks to my canvas. These paintings- acquire the properties of a powerful conductor of energy.

It is true that beauty saves us all...”
