About Oli Mumby

Oli’s work is a reflection of the intensity with which he observes and considers the world around him. Naturally drawn to subjects and visual forms that may often go unnoticed as we go about our lives, Oli creates work that challenges us to engage more with what we see – or indeed don’t see. It prompts us to look more closely, to notice and appreciate beauty in unexpected contexts. How often, for example, do we look at filling stations, industrial buildings or road markings and see something more interesting and captivating?

Influenced by his background in advertising art direction and design, there’s a bold, graphic quality to Oli’s work. He explores a variety of media and stylistic approaches, however, from traditional painting and drawing to collage and mixed media, keen to avoid the limitations of working in a single style.
