About Oksana Johnson

  • Biography
Oksana Johnson is a contemporary American Impressionist in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her strongest influences come from French and European Impressionism and post-Impressionism, She has studied with various master artists in the U.S. and Europe. Her works are in private collections in the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East.

“My primary focus is on painting scenes that capture special moments in time. My philosophy is ‘staying in and appreciating’ the moment. Painting has taught me to focus on what is happening now, and to pay greater attention not only to the outside world but also to my own responses to it. I have learned that life becomes happier and more meaningful that way.”

Oksana paints primarily in oils, but also enjoys working in other media such as charcoal, watercolor, and pastels.

“I am continuing to improve my technical skills. I particularly enjoy experimenting with color and texture, since I feel those two important elements of painting best allow me to express how I feel about my subjects.”
