About Ognyan Hristov

  • Biography

Ognyan Hristov is a distinguished Bulgarian contemporary sculptor whose career exemplifies a synthesis of academic rigor and artistic innovation. In 2011, he completed his Master’s degree in Metal and Stone Sculpture at the esteemed National Academy of Arts in Sofia. Since his graduation, Hristov has honed his talents, establishing himself as a significant figure in the realms of contemporary Bulgarian art and interior design. His participation in numerous group exhibitions across Bulgaria underscores his commitment to the national art scene. Currently, Hristov is advancing his academic journey at the National Academy of Arts, where he is pursuing a doctorate in the history of sculpture.

Hristov's artistic oeuvre is often aligned with the movements of postmodernism and neoclassicism. His works are characterized by geometric precision and an exceptional attention to detail, qualities that render his creations both highly remarkable and meticulously accurate. In addition to his studio practice, Hristov is engaged in scholarly research for his doctoral thesis, which investigates the constructional techniques of mid-20th century public monuments in Bulgaria. This dual focus on practice and theory marks Hristov as a profoundly educated and perpetually curious contemporary sculptor and postmodern innovator.

Since 2017, Hristov has collaborated with the Integrated Artists Gallery in Sofia. This partnership has facilitated the global distribution of nearly 30 of his original artworks, significantly enhancing his artistic style and technical repertoire. Through this collaboration, Hristov continues to expand his influence and contribute to the development of contemporary sculpture both in Bulgaria and internationally.
