    I traveled all through the villages of Tuscany armed with a sketchbook. It was very important to me that my first impressions of Italy were captured in a sketchbook, whether or not I made paintings later. I have of course gone on to paint many of these scenes. Those little hands belong to my daughter, who was fascinated with mom drawing :)

    Painting a still life from life

    I love painting from life! There is such joy in setting up a simple still life in my little studio, playing around with the light and compositions and coming up with ideas. This is one of the most invigorating things in my day as an artist. Here's such a work-in-progress of a recent still life.
