Biography
Nigel Hudson has been a professional photographer for thirty five years. He first picked a camera when he was a student at St Martin's School of Art in London, in the mid 70's. It is a tool that he uses every day of his life and it is the conduit through which he expresses his ideas and emotions.
As a professional photographer, his passion always revolved around the 'live' situation. Opportunities that present themselves in a split second...an expression that is gone in a moment. For Nigel, it was all about the chase - being open to the changes and the ability to respond in an instant, capturing moments that get to the heart of the story. Over the years, he has worked with many large corporations including Sainsbury's, British Gas, Barclays, O2, The Travel Corporation. TWA, Orange, and The Royal Bank of Canada to name but a few.
Always looking for new and exciting ways of fulfilling his ambitions, Nigel is now spending more time, working on his own projects. After years of supplying film and digital files to clients, he has returned to working with his original love ... the printed image.
"Ever since I can remember, I have always been seduced by the lure of a beautiful image. I am not what you would call an avid reader... preferring to consume imagery with unapologetic greed. It's a language that comes naturally to me and it's the best way that I know of expressing my thoughts and ideas. In a sophisticated and often visualy confusing world, my passion is to capture moments the cut through that chaos. Searching for those moments, has become a lifelong fascination. If I were a writer it would be the equivalent of distilling a mish-mash of ideas, into an eloquent, memorable and beautifully crafted sentence. My goal, is to create images that invite my audience to enjoy the sense of excitement that I felt when I took the picture. To provide them with an overwhelming sense of 'being there' . Quite literally, to put them in the picture. And my subject matter is as varied as it can be unusual. I am as happy in a landscape as I am, walking the streets. What fascinates me is the potential to create images that communicate some aspect of our world in a way that is individual. A personal statement about who we are and how we live our lives."
