Biography
I'm an artist and ceramicist creating work inspired by nature and landscapes, dramatic skies and the changing light over the landscape. My work is a response to the emotions felt whilst walking in nature, observing the changes in season, noticing or highlighting the overlooked and challenging their perception of beauty and the imperfect. This contrast between imperfect, adverse weather conditions and how the light changes across the landscape is explored in my work.
My paintings are atmospheric abstract landscape paintings in acrylics and mixed media incorporating drips, scratches, layered washes of glazes, texture and a dimensional, interesting surface. Experimenting with different surface qualities excites me as to the numerous possibilities you can achieve by adding and removing layers.
Inclement weather, clouds, mist and snow all inspire my work. I strive to capture the emotion of the different locations that have inspired me but not paint a wholly representational piece. Hopefully instilling a sense of calm in the viewer and reminiscing with memories of past places they have travelled.
I exhibit my paintings and ceramics throughout the UK at selected art galleries, gift shops and art fairs.
