    New Art

Spring is in the air (yay!) with the local environment beginning to bloom and florists stocking all sorts of incredible beauties. Magnolias have been my pick of the bunch, so please enjoy the most recent offerings and don't forget to check in weekly as new work is uploaded often. If you're after a particular something for a custom project, don't forget to get in touch, but remember I can only work with availability and what's in season at the time of request.

    PHOTO REVIEW MAGAZINE 100TH ISSUE

    PHOTO REVIEW MAGAZINE 100TH ISSUE

Fortunate and honoured to feature in the cover story for Photo Review Magazine's 100th issue. Written by freelance journalist Steve Packer, the following is a small excerpt - " The natural world has a public relations problem. With nature being almost everywhere – even in big cities – it’s easily taken for granted. Which is where Nadia Culph’s art photography of mainly Australian flora comes into play. Conceptually simple and done superbly well, it has a startling immediacy that reawakens awareness of her subjects’ uniqueness, diversity and beauty. Whether you see her photos on social media, on online print marketing sites or hanging in homes and other places, they have a wow factor that exceeds what might be expected from seemingly straightforward images of flowers, foliage, seedpods and the like. With its low-key natural lighting and trademark black backgrounds, her work is distinctly contemporary while echoing outstanding botanical painters dating back to Sydney Parkinson (who sailed on the Endeavour with Captain Cook) and Ferdinand Bauer (who came to Australia with Matthew Flinders’ expedition). Culph herself cites as influences the botanical still lifes of American photographers Robert Mapplethorpe, Irving Penn and Imogen Cunningham. "
