In Bloom is a photo-collage featuring flora found both near and far. A collection of
botanica including everything from foraged Gum leaves and stumbled-upon
Bougainvillea petals to florist bought Dahlias and gifted Proteas. These images have
been taken over many years, past and present, and brought together as a stark reminder of what we stand to lose if we continue on the ecologically damaging path we're on. It is a visual representation of our most basic and fundamentally important natural environment and is the very heart of what sustains us and all life. Once printed, this vibrant living tapestry in all it's colour, diversity and beauty, will be framed using sustainably produced timber and materials.

Event: Biophilic - Where Nature & the Body Meet
Dates: 9 Feb 2024 - 27 Mar 2024
The opening for Art Lovers Australia's Biophilic exhibition was held in their Melbourne gallery on February 9th with an outstanding collection of artworks from artists around the country.
'Biophilic: Where Nature and the Body Meet is a curated selection of hand-made and natural representations of nature as a celebration of our connection & interaction with the environment. As humans, we have a tendency to adapt and respond to environmental forces. Over hundreds of thousands of years, we have evolved the way we think, feel and act as a reaction to our cultivation and connection to nature.' Thank you to those who made it to the opening and to those who visited over the 5 weeks, I hope it was enjoyed.
Biography
Adopting low-key photography as her technique, Nadia creates drama & mood using natural light to accentuate our beautiful botanicals making them the hero of the piece. Described as 'Chiaroscuro', which is the use of strong contrasts between light and dark, she cites Mapplethorpe & Penn as her influences.
Living in Melbourne's leafy suburbs, Nadia takes inspiration from her local surroundings with a strong focus on Australian native flora. Intrigued by unusual patterns, striking colour and bold contrasts, her clever use of diffused sunlight captures the unique design of her botanical subjects. Everything from seasonal flowers & spring seed pods to tropical leaves & exotic feathers.
