  • Enclosure (2022)

This is a collaborative project with the book artist Shona Grant. Between March 2020 and November 2021 I made photographs of the 30 or so mature trees that surround home in rural North East Aberdeenshire. We decided that a Japanese style book would suit the photographs and so we chose to make a stab bound book using hemp-leaf binding (asa-no-ha toji) with a traditional wraparound short-sleeve case (hansode chitsu).

    Common Ground

    Common Ground

Editing for the Common Ground monochrome series. For four years my Common Ground photographic project examined Southampton Common and the old cemetery to artistically interpret a landscape that has been shaped by human activity through management and usage of this shared space. In 2018 Common Ground had an Arts Council funded solo exhibition at the Southampton City Art Gallery.

    Lime

    Lime

This is the lime tree in the front garden at home in north east Aberdeenshire. First seen in the morning and last at night, it is perhaps 80 years old, with a magnificent structure underneath the changes through the seasons. These photographs, made between 5 March 2020 and 11 November 2022, are part of the wider Enclosure project documenting the mature trees at home.
