About Mikhail Nikitsenka

  • Biography

I was born in Belarus. My interest in painting stems from travels across the forests and rivers of this beautiful country and also to the Caucasus Mountains while I was in my twenties. I was overwhelmed by local landscapes, their colors, and their beauty. They sparked my love for painting nature.

I have built up my painting skills through painting expeditions with artists from the Institute of Arts of the National Academy of Science of Belarus and also by taking various courses in Belarus, USA, and Canada.

After moving to Canada in 2008 and settling in Newmarket, Ontario, I joint the Society of York Region Artists to improve my professionalism in art and to participate in various shows organized by the society.

For me, a painting process takes life experience, feelings, mood, and soul materializing into each brush stroke and through each step. I paint in oil, always adding something intuitive and emotional. Most of my works accomplished “A la Prima" to keep the spontaneity of the moment. I think the painting process allows me to observe and enjoy life more than it would be possible otherwise. It sometimes enriches my life by sharing happy emotions with people who want to commission a painting linked to the best moments of their lives when asking me to make a painting depicting, for example, "the scenery where I kissed my girlfriend the first time...She was wearing a blue tuque with a bun on top..."

I enjoy working on commissions and also giving private lessons at my Newmarket studio.

My works can be found in private collections in Russia, Belarus, the USA, and Canada.

I participated in a number of exhibitions and art shows and have numerous awards.

My works are very carefully packaged for shipping.

Please feel free to message me if you have any questions regarding my works.

Thank you for visiting my gallery. I really hope you will find something that will catch your attention.
