About Michael Richards

  • Biography
Colours and light, stormy seas and skies, shapes and angles of buildings in the landscape are the inspiration that I share through my paintings. I begin by sketching landscapes & buildings in ink in my sketchbook and then scale these up to larger ink drawings over which I paint watercolours. I am self-taught learning from books about watercolours, especially those by Alwyn Cranshaw and Ron Ranson and I am inspired by the urban landscapes and architectural paintings of Alvaro Castagnet, William G. Hook and Thomas W. Schaller
