About Michael Nicholson

Hi, I'm Michael Nicholson, a young artist from Adelaide, Australia.

I am self-taught, and have been painting seriously since 2013. I appreciate plein air landscapes, impressionism, figurative art and portraiture. My approach to painting is to give it a crack, and to learn from my many mistakes. I firmly believe that the intent behind each brushstroke allows the composition to become more than the sum of it's parts. I enjoy bold, simple and emotive paintings. The essence of a good painting for me is how simply can you tell the message, not how much can you add.
