About Mia Casati

  • Biography
Through the process of painting, Mia translates her external environments into an imagined space, infusing the works with emotions stimulated by her existing and past surroundings.
With an interest in activism and a subtext in geopolitical concerns, Mia illustrates imagery that is typically overlooked in the current landscape, often calling attention on the need to look beyond the obvious in order to engender such a sense of connection with nature, she does this by working actively with materials and colours that generate informative content, whilst developing the intuitive impetus and momentum that narrates her work.
Using several layers of oil paint that are typically diluted to a fluid consistency, she creates ‘gravitational’ paintings that resemble the chemical and geological complexities of nature. Adopting a colour palette that evokes flesh, there is a human quality to the works that fundamentally speaks to complex ideas around human intuition and feeling whilst calling emphasis on a fluid yet intricate method of working.
