About Marti Leroux

  • Biography

Marti is compelled to paint abstract and realism.  Loving both, her work has become a fusion of the two.  She paints animals on an abstract background.  There is something meditative when Marti paints.  It’s like a dance between two worlds, heaven and earth that take her on a journey of the soul.  Her intent as an artist is to take the viewer along on this voyage with her in hopes of sharing the essence of serenity and love.

Marti’s work is oil on canvas & mixed media on paper.  She begins with the background taking an abstract approach of shapes and color painted in many layers.  There is such freedom at this stage of the painting.  She then incorporates the animals painted in a realistic way.  This stage of the painting is more technical and brings forth a different challenge.

Marti is a self taught artist.  As a child she could draw, color and look art books for hours.  Her home was filled with art books such as, Rembrandt, Picasso, Renoir, Van Gogh, and Toulouse Lautrec to name a few.  Her father and sister are also artists.  As she got older she explored different mediums such as pastels, colored pencils, mixed media and sculpture.
