  • Biography
    LATEST...
I have had paintings of mine exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists Annual Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London. (2022 & 2021)
This year I had a painting shortlisted for the NEAC Federation of Artists, Mall galleries, London and also had 2 paintings selected for 'The Artist' Magazine 2024 (and 1 in 2023) Exhibition in Nottinghamshire.

GENERAL information I’ve been very fortunate to have been involved in Art and Design throughout my life... from roots in Primary school comics, secondary school influences from my Art Teacher father, through to an Honours Degree in Scientific and Technical Graphics. My professional life has been spent shared between Broadcast TV graphics, commercial illustration and fine Art. My style of work and list of clients are as varied as my subject matter and chosen media...ranging from acrylics, watercolour, charcoal, and pen and ink. That may explain my love of variety in my work. I have a cartoonist’s interest in politics and current affairs and enjoy the possibilities of blending art with humour to encapsulate a concept in some quirky way. With an illustration and graphics background, my influences are from artists such as Magritte, Saul Bass, Picasso, Grant Wood, Hockney, Edward Hopper and Edward Ardizzone. Born in the South West of England, I’m blessed with its stunning scenery…Devonshire moors, Cornish ruggedness, quaint fishing ports etc. So landscapes feature often across my work. I’ve pursued a love of life-drawing throughout my life, which helps maintain my drawing accuracy, allowing me to concentrate on expressing my character more into the drawings and sketches which are mostly completed in one sitting.

"Gazing on a Sunny Glaswegian Afternoon"
On holiday in Scotland last year, I saw what I presumed to be a family gathering over a 20 minute period on a bench in Glasgow city centre on a gloomy summer’s afternoon. The eldest was there first, with the youngest on the other side of the bench. Then the middle space was taken. I don’t think a word was spoken throughout. I wanted to capture the gloominess of the weather and atmosphere.
