Event: Art philosophy of Maria Skakun
Dates: 1 Apr 2022 - 15 Apr 2022
“My painting can be attributed to intuitive painting. The process for me is a deep journey into the unconscious, helping me to live my own emotions and states.
Through art, I explore the self-identification of personality, physicality and the experience of emotions. I am inspired by people, psychology, synesthesia of feelings, nature, music and the world of the unconscious. I often write in the style of abstract expressionism.
The exhibition presents works from different stages of life in Belarus and Poland.”

Dates: 27 Oct 2019 - 31 Oct 2019
The LABYRINTH BARDO @ labyrinth.bardo art and poetry exhibition is designed as a two-story labyrinth. Six black rooms with paintings inside. The paintings are accompanied by music and poetry, for which they were written. You can listen to the works through your own headphones. From time to time, paintings come to life from light installations directed at them.
⠀
BARDO is a Tibetan Buddhist concept that means "transition" or the interval between the completion of one situation and the beginning of another. The passage from one room to another symbolizes the six states of BARDO: the process of dying, dharmata, birth, life, sleep and meditative concentration.

Biography
Maria Skakun is an abstract expressionist painter, teacher, and art therapist, and a participant in international exhibitions. The artist lives and works in France, in Paris. Was born in Belarus.
“For me, a free and confident line is a way of communicating and energetically interacting with the world. I create not just works that inspire but a world that immerses the viewer and reveals new meaning,” notes the artist.
In her works, Maria explores the intuitive nature of lines, the subconscious, and experiences various psychological states. She works with emotions and feelings and, through painting, investigates the nature of corporeality and sexuality. Performance allows her to be more open to the world and feel art more deeply.
The process of creating a painting is very important to the artist. Initially, Maria creates an emotional expression on the canvas, pouring out all her emotions and inner states—it’s like a dialogue with the subconscious. Then the artist seeks form for this expression, which is conscious and always an interesting process, as at the beginning of the work, she fully trusts herself and never knows what the final result will be.
Maria often works without preliminary sketches—in such an approach and style, she feels bold and alive. The artist creates abstractions, portraits, and nudes. Her works are characterized by a series format, allowing for a deeper immersion into the theme.
Maria uses a mixed authorial technique involving oil, acrylic, wax crayons, and other materials.
The artist has 7 solo exhibitions and participated in 14 group exhibitions.
Collaborations with other artists and designers helps her experience the purity of creativity through synergy and improvisation. The artist is open to exchanging ideas and creative collaborations
From childhood, Maria engaged in drawing and studied visual arts, but since 2017, painting has become her main occupation. For eight years, the artist built a career in IT and the fashion industry as a designer and art director before deciding to leave that field and fully dedicate herself to art.
