About Marina Volkova

  • Biography
Aside from painting, which has been the main medium throughout my artist career, i am also active as an illustrator for different publishers and have created scenery’s for different theatre events.  Meanwhile, in addition to painting, i have found passion for wallpainting and with that the way into  street art. Since 2018 am painting the entire “ Adenauerplatz” pedestrian underpass  in Heidelberg comprehensively and will continue so.
Art – like philosophy – opens up possibilities to change the view on things, to discover something new in familiar subjects. That is the real value of art as I see it. I have great doubts about the idea of an “objective” wisdom or truth. Pictures, images, paintings allow lots of different interpretations. I offer points of orientation, the beginning of a story and anyone may interpret them according to his personal life experience. You do not see with your eyes only but also with your heart. Pieces of Art don’t have any meaning by themselves, but they are the starting point, an indispensable instrument to adjust the power of reception. All stages you pass as an artist you have to be able to leave them behind you. You have to free yourself from all accumulations and walk on forwards. No professional artist deals with his work because it is so interesting. But to quit would be the same as to stop breathing.
