About Marilina Marchica

 
 
  • Biography
    Marilina Marchica was born in Agrigento, where she lives and works, In 2008 she graduated in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. Her painting tells the relationship between man and nature and their relationship. "my landscapes are "boxes" of memories, day after day they welcome events and individuals who leave their mark and change their boundaries and appearance" "Landscapes", evoked by a vision of reality bordering on abstraction. In Marilina Marchica's landscape views, that tenuous dividing line between absence and presence invites the observer to expose unknown dimensions. Marilina Marchica has been the protagonist of various Solo Exhibitions such as those promoted by the FAM Gallery in Agrigento, by San Sebastiano Contemporary - Casa Bramante in Palazzolo Acreide, Spazio HUS in Milan. In addition to the site-specific intervention designed for the crypt of the Church of Santa Maria del Piliere in Palermo, we recall the participation and in the artist residence at Villa Aurea - Valle dei Templi Agrigento The works of Marilina Marchica have been published in sector magazines and volumes such as “The New Collectors Book” (New York, 2015) and are present in Italian and foreign public and private collections, including the Chiaramontane factories in Agrigento and the Museum of Trame Mediterranee - Orestiadi Foundation of Gibellina Her works are present in numerous public and private collections

    The Project is about urban architectures and is developing in the cities where we live and work: l'Aquila and Agrigento. The mould of a piece of urban architecture tells its own story and tells us the history of its formation. Urban architecture determines our access to a place and influences our passage through walls and streets.

    The wall is a barrier, is a boundary, is a frontier, is a protection, is historical memory, is matter that changes over time. Our work consists of the creation of a series of silicone casts, from which we obtain an impression of the architecture around us. This is our idea of “semantic calque”.
