About Maria Arias

  • Biography

The love for animals jumps from the canvas.

My paintings are mostly of animals or humans interacting with animals and with them I am promoting the love of animals, but also I strive to show the greatness of the animals and their importance in our lives on a physical and spiritual level.

I connect with the animals when I am painting, especially through the animal's eyes. I feel this pure love energy, which is amazing and therapeutic for me. I think that you can see part of this energy and its effect when you look at my work.

My paintings are made with different techniques: pastel, acrylic, oil and airbrush. My task is not only to create the works and bring joy to their buyers, I also try to promote the love for animals .

Art has been an incredible booster for my self-esteem, providing balance and inner peace. Art has opened a door to my integration.

As you may know I love cats and animals in general. I let myself go in a sort of trance when I paint or draw and it is a therapy for me. I feel a connection with the animal I am working with and it is an amazing feeling, full of energy and love. You can see on my work clearly the character and personality of these cats.

T Hoogt Filmtheater en Café in Utrecht. The opening was the 24th August during the premier of KEDI (A film based on the cats from Istanbul) in collaboration with the amazing people from Katfe (A new Cat Cafe that will open this year in Utrecht).

All the paintings were 20x20cm acrylic on canvas. Each of them is inspired on a real cat, the name of the painting is the name of the cat. These cats are from USA, South Africa, New Zealand, Argentina, UK, Venezuela, Canada, Spain, The Netherlands and one of them from Venezuela, that one passed away last year. The portrait is a way to honor him and his owner who is an amazing animal activist. She has a print of the painting and therefore an amazing souvenir of Anakin.
