About Lynne Douglas

  • Biography
I specialise in extra large abstracts, abstract seascapes and impressionist landscape photography. My bestseller works are my abstract seascapes from the Isle of Skye and the Isle of Harris where I love to roam on deserted beaches.

Although I am a professional photographer, I have a strong sense of Photography as Art using my camera in the same way as a painter would use their paintbrush and palette. I love minimalist landscapes and huge panoramas inspired in those places where you can see the lines in the landscape and the colours are sensational.

My latest passion is to create large abstracts over a number of canvases. I just launched my 'Sea Nymphs Collection' of aerial photography prints at 60 x 40 inches made from the top of a waterfalls on the Isle of Skye. Another Collection just created is 'Ideation' a set of 5 very large abstracts in shimmering blue and orange exploring the way light changes your perspective and comparing it with design brainstorming and exploration in driving new concepts.

Deserted beaches are my favourite place to work, early mornings in remote places where there is little chance of meeting anyone. Most of the work is done in camera and I later work to bring out the details in the scene that inspired the piece.

I love printing, I love seeing the colours and my ideas appearing on the canvas. I am meticulous in creating the best image on the best art materials I can find. I am passionate about art that is going to live and be loved. I don't exhibit often, I am not an artist who interacts much in the art world, instead, I tend to focus inwardly on my passion for my work.  I have exhibited in the past in galleries in New York and across the UK and Scotland and I am currently exhibiting in Seoul, South Korea.

My studio home is on the far north of the Isle of Skye, a remote of grid location that suits my outlook. At home I have a happy family of four dogs, a stray cat and a patient husband who packs the art for me.

I hope you enjoy my work and if you would like to know more of the background story to any of the images or just ask me questions about material, delivery etc please get in touch.

    Best wishes,
    Lynne
