Biography
As an artist who has several ways of working, Linda Chapman has been inspired by many, including painters, photographers, sculptures and filmmakers, such as, Howard Hodgkin, Horst, Barbara Hepworth, and Peter Greenaway. Linda's method of working could have been sparked by a word, a phrase, an action, a shape or a colour.
As the idea floats around her head, it starts to form into a photographic image on paper or something bigger, a 'thinking' three-dimensional diorama in a box. These can be made with scenery, miniature scale figures, found objects and anything else she feels the need to build to tell the story. Sometimes they do not need a box and become unframed small sculptures.
Art is about free expression and interpretation, this is how Linda sees the idea, you may see something else?
