Biography
I am a Ukrainian painter based in Kent, England from April, 2022. In Ukraine, I used to combine actual painting with teaching art, but now I do painting on full-time professional basis; my preferred genres are portrait, landscape, and still life (in exactly this order), predominantly in oil, but I also do watercolours and drawings occasionally.
Through my art, I strive to capture the essence and beauty of people and not only. As a portrait painter, I am fascinated by the depth and complexity of the human face, and I believe that each individual has a unique story to tell.
Growing up in Ukraine, I was surrounded by a rich cultural heritage that celebrated art, tradition, and history. This upbringing greatly influenced my artistic style and choice of subject matter. I am particularly drawn to the strength, resilience, and grace that is often embodied by Ukrainian women.
My paintings aim to go beyond mere physical likeness. I seek to delve into the inner world of my subjects, capturing their emotions, dreams, and aspirations. Each brushstroke is carefully applied to convey the subtle nuances of their expressions, revealing their innermost thoughts and feelings.
In the process of painting, I engage in a constant dialogue between tradition and innovation. While honoring the techniques of classical portraiture, I also experiment with contemporary approaches to create a unique visual language that is both timeless and relevant.
Ultimately, my goal as a portrait painter is to create art that resonates with viewers on a deep and emotional level. I hope that my paintings not only capture the beauty and complexity of humans but also inspire a sense of appreciation for the diverse cultures and stories that make up our world.
