Escapism! You may not know it, but it’s what every one of us does on a daily basis. Think about it. Using Facebook to escape from your own life and into others. Using Instagram to relive the life of your favourite celebrity. Jump into VR to be with your favourite porn actor / actress. Turn on the console, immerse yourself in your favourite game. The list is endless. I love the idea of escaping, but I like to do it a little differently. I want the viewer to escape to my world, escape to the concepts that I create. Our world is changing rapidly, and these changes will inevitably alter your perception of everything around us. But, I like to take these ideas and deform them, giving them a slightly altered meaning. However, as is with any artist, ideas can also come from other artists. I like to look to artists who not only do I feel are more talented than myself, but artists from different crafts. First and foremost there are artist such as Filip Hodas and Farid Ghanbari who, in their own right are excellent CG Artists, who like myself, try and push the boundaries of reality, but onn the otherside of the spectrum, there are also Fine Art Photographers such as Dmitry Rogozhkin who, makes excellent use of light and texure, along with a great base idea can produce some mind altering art. This is what gives me my drive and passion, for putting my ideas on canvas!
