Event: Time Shifts 2
Dates: 1 Apr 2016 - 31 May 2016
This is an overflow show of my thesis exhibition at the Tucson Museum of Art. The work consisted of whimsical landscapes from the "time shifts/Fleeting remains" series.
That work has a long thesis, but in a nutshell: The work is about a prodigal daughters journey from the desert to San Francisco, and returning back to the Desert. There is a spiritual element, a magical nature to the desert, and once I returned I realized for the first time, how special the desert is. This is partially based on Joseph Campbell's ideas on "the Hero Journey", and the biblical story of the "Prodigal Son". The ideas touch on memory and place, combined with "journey", experience, and a touch of spirituality or Magic.
