About Larisa Batenkova

  • Biography

I paint in oils, mainly in the alla prima technique. I use a palette knife, rags, brushes and other materials at hand to achieve different effects. The palette knife allows you to convey the expression and mood of the moment, and I use scratching for fine lines, hairs and contre-jour. I paint in different formats, but most of all I prefer the average size (50-50 cm).

My favorite subjects in painting are flowers, nature and the play of sunlight. The sun is the main spice of my paintings! I love a bright and juicy palette that brings joy and good mood, I really want to convey an atmosphere of warmth and happiness through my paintings.

I am constantly learning new things, mastering encaustics, trying new materials: pastels, watercolors. I also attend different online courses, learn from painting masters and watch other artists a lot.

I think it is very important to experiment and develop!
