  • Biography

    Olena Kolotova is a contemporary Ukrainian artist currently residing near Frankfurt am Main, Germany. She studied painting at the National Academy of Arts and Architecture in Kyiv. Olena works extensively from nature, both en plein air and in the studio, and she experiments with composition and color. She dedicated several years to watercolor painting and is currently working in traditional oil on canvas. Her works are held in several Ukrainian galleries as well as in private collections worldwide. Olena actively participates in the local artist community and continues to develop her creative and exhibition practice.

    Event: All-Ukrainian Christmas exhibition, National Union of Artists of Ukraine

    Dates: 24 Dec 2021 - 16 Jan 2022

    Venue: Central Exhibition Hall of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Ukraine. Kyiv. Sich Riflemen (Artem) street. 1-5. Central House of Artist.

    The National Union of Artists of Ukraine (NUAU) is an all-Ukrainian public creative organization of professional artists and art critics. It is a voluntary creative association of painters, graphic artists, sculptors, masters of decorative arts, and art critics. The selection for exhibitions is carried out by professional and distinguished artists of Ukraine. Only works marked by high quality and skill are accepted for participation. The Christmas exhibition is a thematic collection of works displayed during the Christmas holidays. Artists from all over Ukraine participate in the exhibition.

    Event: International exhibition of landscapes, National Union of Artists of Ukraine

    Dates: 4 Jun 2021 - 4 Jul 2021

    Venue: exhibition hall named after A. Kuindzhi in Mariupol., exhibition hall named after A. Kuindzhi in Mariupol.

    The IV International Landscape Exhibition "Memorial of Arkhip Kuindzhi" took place at the Art Museum named after A.I. Kuindzhi. The memorial is held every 5 years. Within this artistic project, 200 paintings were presented, which could be seen in two locations: the Art Museum and the City Center of Contemporary Art named after Kuindzhi until July 4. Works for the exhibition were submitted to Mariupol from various corners of the world: Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Brazil, Canada, and Greece. Out of 55 Ukrainian artists, 27 are originally from Mariupol. They are all united by their love for art and the genre of "landscapes."

    Participation included not only Honored and People's Artists but also young artists, students, and professors from leading Ukrainian universities. The main idea is to support the artistic traditions introduced by Arkhip Kuindzhi and help young artists working in the same style.

    Event: International project «A4 Ballpoint Pen»

    Dates: 24 Dec 2019 - 28 Jan 2020

    Venue: "Karas Gallery", Kyiv. Ukraine

    The annual exhibition of the extensive art project in Ukraine, "A4, Ballpoint Pen!", takes place at the Karas Gallery in Kyiv. The project was established in 2006 and showcases works by Ukrainian artists united by a clearly defined format.

    The project's collection comprises over 4500 pieces and is considered the largest collection of ballpoint pen art in the world. Among the project's contributors are well-known artists such as Apollonov, Babak, Roytburd, Ralko, Chychkan, Bevza, Zhivotkov, Isupov, Krivolap, Bludov, Volokitin, Gusev, Reunov, and others. The project is rapidly evolving, gaining new followers, and remains open to new ideas and names.

    Event: Watercolor festival in the city of Urbino

    Dates: 26 Nov 2019 - 30 Nov 2019

    Venue: Palazzo del Collegio Raffaello, Urbino

    Annually, the International Watercolor Festival takes place in the Italian city of Urbino. During the festival, master classes by world-class artists and plein-airs are organized. As part of the festival, there is an international watercolor exhibition with a free theme, as well as an exhibition of watercolors created by students from various schools. Urbino becomes charming during these days as it serves as a hub for cultural and artistic exchange, reminiscent of the Renaissance era when artists would gather at the Doge's Palace.
