  • Biography

My drawing is about invented space…space is a toy to be played whether it’s kinetic or compact neurotic or eclectic the sense of space in my drawings seems to jut in and out of reality in an impossible and intangible way. I would characterize my work as representative with abstract elements. I use color to draw with.  I love watercolor and pen and ink which I incorporate into my work. Ink wash is great for creating beautiful line and gestures which can go from subtle to intense and expressive in one fell stroke. I don’t follow art trends I listen to my voice; each image has its own uniqueness which in turn lends to my funky and unusual style.  Often, it’s not a perfectly finished or polished line, it’s important that the viewer is on the creative journey with me and observes fleeting glimpses that show how the images changed, evolved and transformed over time. The history of the works evolution lets the viewer in on the process.  I love that because it allows me to take the audience along for the ride!   Subject matter and ideas in my work are deeply personal and are often intersected with broader social concerns. I am fascinated with history and popular culture and I am drawn to broad expressive and eclectic color.  I try to interweave friends, personal symbols and significant places into my pieces. I especially love the blurry chaotic imagery of people letting loose in closed compact environments. The almost monochrome setting with glimpses of bright intense light creates an expansive and mysterious atmosphere.
