About Kathleen Migliore-Newton

Painting and drawing the human face and figure is my passion. Inspired by photographs that I take, I capture a person's gesture and personality. The figure is primary while the background is minimized. I hope the viewer empathizes with the humanity of the rendered presences, using drawing to delineate features. Expressive brush strokes of heightened color enhance the emotional impact of the work. I celebrate the diversity and texture of the urban environment in New York City. I have also drawn and painted a series of contemporary people interacting with with the art masters of the past in museums
