Biography
Kate Heiss studied at the Royal College of Art graduating with an MA in Textile Design in 1997. She then worked as a Textile Designer across a wide range of fashion brands. Kate has lectured in Japan and was a visiting tutor at Central St Martins College of Art and Design and Buckinghamshire New University.
In 2011 Kate set up her own printmaking studio after receiving a Certificate of Printmaking with distinction from the prestigious Curwen Print Study Centre.
Kate is inspired by her love of nature especially flowers, moths and butterflies. Her prints have distinctive botanical and organic images developed in the style of Textile Designs. She creates prints with florals, geometric patterns and bold colours intertwined with local landscapes of Cambridgeshire, Spain and Norfolk.
She works in a variety of Printmaking techniques including Linocut, Chine Collé, Collagraph, Screenprint and Collage. Often her works combine more than one technique making her collection of handmade prints truly unique.
