About Karin McCombe Jones

  • Biography
    With rings on my fingers,
but no bells on my toes,
My mission is to bring colour wherever I go...

( with thanks to an old nursery rhyme of my childhood

" She rides a cockhorse to Banbury Cross" )

My acrylic paintings are often daringly bold, & a suggestive observation of a moment captured. Expressive, vibrantly colourful & watchful of reflective values in thought and light. I start by underpainting my canvases. Then layers are built up working directly with brushes, blocking in areas. No pencil work exists.
When teaching I implored students to be expressive in movement & dynamic in gesture & voice. To capture their audience.
I am now translating this into my art.
