About Kamila Godlewska

  • Biography

My name is Kamila, I was born in 1983 in Sokolow Podlaski, Poland.

I have no art education but I studied photography for 2 years in Warsaw. Photography was, and still is, a very important art form for me.

How did I start to draw then?

One day back in 2017, I bought myself, spontaneously, a set of pastel pencils and drew a pair of parakeets - it truly gave me so much joy I couldn’t believe I hadn’t tried it before!

Today I live in Derby, England. I am preparing myself to become a full time artist – it’s my dream and my goal. Drawing isn’t just a passion for me, I want it to be my life.

My medium of choice, at the moment, is soft pastel but I want to try other techniques. Almost all my works are inspired by nature and wildlife. Animals, especially domestic ones, allow me to feed my hunger for detail which I get from time to time.

I push myself to be better every day. I’m a strong believer that true love for art and practice are the best tools to be one happy and successful artist.

"If you do what you love, it is the best way to relax." - for me it is creating art. I meditate through art - it helps me to quiet my busy mind and let me spend some quality time with myself. Some people express themselves in words but I find it easier to express feelings, thoughts and emotions through my creations. Creating something from nothing makes me feel productive. When people like my art and want to buy it, I feel needed. It gives out satisfaction and stimulates to create more. When I draw I am simply happy.
