I've been working on a lot of blue abstract seascapes recently inspired by Prussia Cove in Cornwall. Here I am in my studio with a few of my new paintings.

I often paint with sponges instead of brushes and enjoy getting my hands in the paint to smooth it around too!

Painting Stars On My New Space Paintings

This is me in my studio painting the stars on my new space paintings. I was recently invited to take part in an exhibition called “How the Universe Works” which started me thinking about the wonders of the cosmos. My latest paintings are inspired by colourful photographs of nebulas and galaxies and I have really enjoyed exploring the theme of the universe and it has lead me in an exciting new direction.

Me in my studio with my neon abstract sunsets

I often work on two or three paintings at a time as the layers of paint need to dry before I can add more. These neon abstract seascapes are in inspired by vivid sunsets reflected onto water. I was listening to the Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Neil Young amongst others while painting them and they are titled from their song lyrics.

This is me in my new space working on "A Certain Kind of Light". My new studio is in Hammersmith on the edge of Ravenscourt Park which I walk through on the way to work. The colours of the lake in the park have inspired my colour palate and new series of paintings.

"This is me putting the finishing touches to "Hazy Cosmic Jive", a large abstract sunset painted in oil and acrylic paint. I'm adding an extra layer of fluorescent paint to make it really bright. The title is taken from "Starman" by David Bowie. Music is important to me when painting and what I listen to really influences how the finished painting turns out."
