About Julia Entwistle

  • Biography
I love to paint the landscape, sometimes En Plein Air but usually it is in my studio with either references from photographs or just straight from my head! The latter tends to be my favourite as I like to escape with my imagination and paint in a more impressionist style rather than a true representation, hence my affinity with romanticism.

I also try and reflect this in my paintings,  they can sometimes be quite dark and brooding, which is how I like to paint, by using Prussian blue and Paynes gray, capturing the mood of the landscape.

    Event: Romantic Impressionist Landscapes

    Dates: 5 Sep 2020 - 31 Oct 2020

Venue: The Gallery at St George's House, 1 St George's Road, Bolton BL1 2DD

This will be a solo exhibition of 'Romantic Impressionist Landscapes' by Lancashire Artist Julia Entwistle who is showcasing her paintings which have been described as 'ethereal' and bathed in a 'half-light'.

When she is painting, Julia loves to capture the mood of a place rather than rely on a topographical study of the surrounding landscape.

'It's not about just capturing the mood of a place, it's about catching the very essence of it's soul'
