About Judith Fisher

Hello, and thank you for visiting Judith's gallery.  She is always delighted to chat about her art, so if you see something you like and want to know more, please do get in touch.

Born in Ireland, Judith has spent most of her childhood and adult years in the south of England.  With a degree in fashion, her experience of life drawing led to an initial interest in figurative work.  Over time, this interest morphed into portraiture.  More recently, Judith fell in love with still life but works only from her imagination.  If asked why, she would probably say that a still life set up somehow changes into something completely different...!

To side step the (near) photorealism of many who work in this genre, she chooses instead to paint instantly recognisable objects (but perhaps with a difference!).  To a vase of flowers she adds her sense of movement and fun.  This approach gives her work a playful and dynamic feel which makes her paintings instantly approachable and often a point of conversation.

She primarily works in oils on canvas and uses palette knives to give texture.  If she was asked, she would say that her most liked paintings come from painting over a pretty poor painting...!
