About Jovan Srijemac
Biography
"The world around us is just an undreamt-of dream." I dream my colors and use them for my painting while dreaming of them. I am awake and dreaming.
Jovan Srijemac, Professional artist, painter and writer, was born in 1962 on planet Earth in a country that no longer exists. In a country that doesn't even have a name anymore. He calls himself Earthman.
He started as a 16-year-old boy in a private art school with art classes. During that time, from 1978 to 1982, he was fascinated by Dali and surrealist art. His first paintings were painted with oil paint in a surreal style. Very quickly he had enough of surrealism, because of his temperament he could not resist painting one picture at a time for several days (fine painting and painting with oil paints that take a long time to dry).
Since the late 1980s, he has been painting quickly, figuratively and without the unnecessary details that have become a new style.
Jovan entered the Academy of Fine Arts in 1989 in the country of his birth and after 2 years he stopped his studies due to the political situation in the country. And in 1992 he left his native country because of the outbreak of war. In the summer of 1993 he came to the Netherlands. He left all his paintings behind, which were later destroyed in the war. At that time his paintings were as dark and gloomy as his feelings. Since 1998. he started using more colors. "Color is born," he calls this period.
Jovan paints with a palette knife and uses paint directly from a pot or tube, expressionistic and colorful. As a subject, he uses everything around him as inspiration. He wants to paint in his own style with an expressionistic use of color, and often the paint is applied to the canvas aggressively, freely directly from the pot with fast dynamic movements.
The distinctive style of Jovan's work is appreciated by a wide audience of buyers, private collectors and corporate collections - offices around the world
Jovan work is very unique in style and use colors.
