About Johannes Hartmann

  • Biography
My name is Johannes Hartmann. I live and work in Hamburg, Germany. I started with free art in 1983. I studied illustration, painting and communication design in Hamburg until 1981. I would like to make my art better known internationally. Not least because there are no comparable works. Technically, there are some striking features: I mostly paint abstractly with acrylic on the backs of transparent materials: foils, glass and Plexiglas, which is why the colours are very bright. I leave the pictures partially unpainted. In this way, the wall behind them remains partially visible. A spatial depth effect is created. The works seem to float in front of the wall. I call this "FloatinX Art". I have always worked intuitively. After the first brushstroke, I follow a preconscious inner melody that gives me a feeling of existential freedom. The results are mostly abstract works that reflect my thoughts, feelings and perceptions. "My artistic works are chance finds. picked up during numerous walks in the woods of my right and left brain."
(2005) While in the early years I created objects from rubbish and other found materials in addition to photography and free painting, I began working with transparent materials in 1987. My first exhibition took place in Hamburg at the end of the 1980s. I am not represented by any gallery, but market myself through my exhibitions, my website and a very small circle of buyers. For the future, however, I would like my art to become known beyond Germany. I would like to have access to a wider international audience, to other artists and collectors and would be very happy to become part of Artfinder.
