About Joe McNichol

I only recently began to work in oils and spent the summer of 2014 working on a series of paintings of the stunning House for an Art Lover building in Glasgow as well as some of the scenes around Glasgow and the West Coast of Scotland. The architecture and history of Glasgow has always been an obsession with me and is as stunning to residents as it is to visitors. I still don't feel I have a specific style or message to convey except a love of my city and country and a desire to capture some of its essence and in particular some of the old stone buildings and vistas that have been lost forever by a lack of foresight and short term commercial priorities . I have an extensive range of old photographs of the city for inspiration and have tried to capture the quirky and forgotten.
